Have you seen Kings of Sorts? Well, maybe you should.

You see, Hanna is a kind loner who is willing to bet on people’s good side, even if this hardly ever worked out for him. Living in a world in which most people seem to have turned away from technology in favour of magic, Hanna really… really likes to see machines go. He also really wants a friend.

Enter Bon, who is not alive and not dead and made of fire and the embodiment of the word “BRAT”. Breaking each other’s walls is a long but heartfelt and fullfiling process the comic takes its time with, and I wouldn’t have it other way. The two of them are complicated characters who bounce of each other very well, and end up meeting a bunch of other very – sympathetic and not that much so – characters. The world is colorful, the action is exciting and the emotions are often a wonderful payoff. I would say it is a comic with very interesting things to say about the nature of power and how addictive it can be… And how easy it is for other to parasite you. That and also how to stay kind and humble and whimsy in a world that is adamant in telling you hope is hopeless.

It’s got magic, magitech and tech, and a wide and adorable cast of complex creatures who are ready to shoot each other and help each other out. It’s also traditionally made in a very sweet and effective style that does wonders for its storytelling. And everyone is very fashionable, all the time. I am not joking (I may have commissioned Jacki to design me some suits for my own kids to wear on my own comic. Consider the power involved here!!!!).

Kings of Sorts would make for a wonderfull chill summer read and I cannot recommend it enough.

Oh wait before I forget YES it has dragons
