4 Panels.
Panel 1: Miguel softly pushes Angela away from him.
Miguel (thoughts): Angela, you don't need to console me with your body.
Panel 2: Angela angrily pulls at her shirt, exposing part of her chest. She shouts.
Angela: It's YOUR body.
Panel 3: Angela, alone, realizing this is not working the way she thought it would. She's still holding her shirt, but looking away in embarrassed shock.
Miguel (off panel): No.
Panel 4: Miguel goes back to methodically buttoning her shirt. She looks down, lost and embarrassed.
Angela: I don't- I don't know what I'm doing, Miguel...

oh wow, literally I comment in the previous page and this one drops lol
NO NO WHAT OH GOD Angela my girl oh God she deserves a hug waowswsaosdcfgdes
Yeah, I think she needed the consolation of a hug and kiss herself most of all – but as much as Miguel hasn’t inherited the usual straight male instinct for a response from Mikhail, he still responds with much more empathy than he would have earlier, it seems. Which is probably even better in this situation!
Yeah, I agree. It pains me to think she has had to use this.. precarious method in the past (and may have worked), though…

Possibly a minor typo in the transcript: It should probably say:
“Angela, alone, realizing this is not working the way she thought it would.”
Yeah, that transcription part felt weird (and/or self-dismissive) but maybe she’s insecure and thinks her small chest won’t woo a man (or rather a “cosmic AI entity dressed as a man”, but she might be missing this detail) – she has a “magically induced depression” after all.
Can’t blame her, really, even without her own previous life background, having a day job of turning fallen enemy soldiers into dirigible zombies by psychically re-animating them can’t be all that good for one’s mental sanity!
And then one of those turning out to be already possessed by an alien(?) AI fragment and her springing him from captivity on a crazy-seeming mission to re-unite him with his other mind fragments is a really tall order – it is actually remarkable how stable Angela still is even now under these bonkers circumstances!
(Fixed, thanks!)
Me neither, Angie.
I wonder if this is related to how she feels she ought to be acting with the man she left? Sensation that she’s expected to provide this and disliking how difficult it feels, or that she needs to give this type of attention. Makes me want to see more of them interacting in the past. (there’s a little gremlin in my head chanting ‘divorce, divorce, divorce’ but iirc they weren’t married)
I think she’s definitely better off having left the sadistic torture bros behind!
But I think especially within a horrifyingly dispiriting war zone environment seeking any kind of positive human connection is exactly trying to not descend into the prevailing kind of madness all around her. I wouldn’t see it quite the same as personal relations in a safe peace time situation.
Unfortunately it seems there are no sides in this war that do not include sadistic torture bros, lol
But I would also be curious given that she’s never technically been in a safe peace time situation? Lusitania is a theocratic militaristic state and she has been a ward of it for most of her life. Before that it’s somewhat implied she was being used in other, even less savory, ways by the people around her. Say what you will about Estanislau (and there’s a lot to say!) but there’s no indication he’s anything less than fully in love with her.
I guess my point is that I think Angela has a very fraught relationship with her body and find it interesting to see how it will be explored. My guess is that this ‘giving up’ of her body to someone else has been a recurring pattern in her life! Which makes it interesting that she’s never been interested in ‘giving it’ to Estanislau at all.
I think both aspects play a role!
But being in love does not compensate for Estanislau being mostly an entitled, sadistic jerk without much if any actual empathy for Angela beyond his own idea of her, not really bothering to verify how much that idea actually corresponds with her actual person.
A real human connection needs actual empathy and ironically Angela begins to find more of it with an enemy corpse possessed by an alien(?) AI than with her thoroughly human boyfriend…
(Estanislau and Eurico probably try to compensate with some of their behaviours for their own war traumas, but it looks like they are in their positions not least because their characters are apt to their gruesome roles in addition to their psychic abilities.)
Oh no, it’s a bad relationship and I hope it blows up in a spectacular and wonderful fashion, but I find it interesting in how she perceives herself and how she may have ended up in that relationship with him. I wouldn’t be surprised if she had once seemed much more receptive to Estanislau’s flirtations due to that sensation of it not being her own body, so to speak. I’m not saying ‘ought to have acted’ in terms of it actually being good, but in terms of that being how she was expected to act and what pressures she had on herself as a citizen of a theocratic misogynist state.
Also ironic to say ‘real human connection’ when the connection here isn’t really human in the first place, hahaha
Yay! I’m the chosen one! 😃
So how can I be of assistance? I’m sure that all the promo art will be great! ✨
