Chapter: Paso Doble
Location: Salamanca
Hello there, little crickets ♥
Been pulling some tricks with the website decoration, including a new section on the cast page, please let me know if you find any mold!
Meanwhile, I know I’m not usually one to leave a lot of clues in the comment sections, but I feel like we are all familiar here with von Neumann‘s architecture, right?n You don’t need to know what it is. Just know that it is. I promise you it is not relevant unless you’re the kind of person who likes to think of technical wordlbuilding implications.
Anyways, I was very excited about what I would have Franq say here and I’m not sure if I was too subtle about it. Nikita seems to have figured it out, though.

7 Panels.
Panel 1: Franq types furiously onto the keyboard, Nikita is looking at him as if he just realized something.
Franq: To be fair, I also think the General would let you to die in Lusitania for a few weeks, if you got captured.
Panel 2: A closeup of Nikita, expression only slightly changed.
Nikita: Do you do understand what I want.
Panel 3: Franq picks up the hard drive Nikita slid him previously, smoking. Behind him, Argon is curious, as one of the monitor keeps repeating the same words: "CHE COS'È?"
Franq: This is a von Newmann, Nikusha. Ancient with capital A shit. We're gonna need an adapter for this.
Panel 4, 5: Franq takes a box full of cables and adapters from under the table and searches for a compatible one. He sighs before talking.
Franq: Yes, I understand. I just don't find it very palatable.
Panel 6: Franq looks up to Nikita, sitting in front of him while Franq's still kneeling on the floor next to his box of cables.
Nikita: War's not supposed to be palatable.
Franq: Especially not the way you do it, is it?
Nikita: I do what I do.
Franq: I just hoped you'd gotten it out of your system by now.
Panel 7: Black, with the speechbubbles as the conversation trails off.
Franq: Well, anyways, I need to run some tests on this bad boy of yours. How much time do you have?
Nikita: Some forty minutes.
Franq: Let's go grab a coffee. I'll show you what I've been working on.

“War is not supposed to be palatable.” Wow Nikita, ok. Go write a philosophy paper
man’s about to write the Commentarii de Bello Lusitanicum
With just the traditional bit of a self-serving slant, as usual…!
“I do what I do”
Just to be on the safe side he probably shouldn’t schedule any major events at the Ides of March, though…
I guess their computer gods are running on much more subtle but also more fickle quantum hardware by now as befits any proper deity. 🤔
Of course Franq will have to dive into his rats nest of an adapter drawer to plug in an old-style digital data drive…!
