Nikita is visibly upset at this. Aurik looks back into his book.
Aurik: Guess you'll be late.

Steffano: He's late.

A mocking Diana looks at her brother, embarrassing him only very slightly.
Diana: Cranky because your broken bird isn't here? Well, who knows! Maybe you just need to BONE to realize THIS is a bad idea.

Steffano, pretending he didn't just hear what his sister said, stares at Diana while she jumps to his very fluffy and very blue bed laughing.
Steffano: Your point, Diana?

Diana stares intensely at her brother, laying on her back, cigarette on her lips.
Diana: You know you're putting a target on your back, right?

Diana leaps forward, sitting on the edge of the bed on a single movement, amused. Steffano pets one of the crows with a soft smile.
Diana: Do you want me to pull the numbers? Because I'm an Augur. I have them. Let's see... In the past 150 years, there have been 32 assassination attempts within the Corvo House. Of those, a good two thirds came from WITHIN the House. By Árgon's jokes! You're not even braving new territory here!

Diana laughs while Steffano picks up a white toga.
Diana (cont): And you're too late now to start your 30 ASSASSINATION ATTEMPTS UNDER 30's list! Ahah!
Steffano (jolly): I'll take those odds.

Steffano hits the side of a full glass with a fork to call the guests' attention. He addresses the crowd.
Steffano: Attention, everyone! I have some very exciting news for you tonight.

Alessandro Corvo holds a glass of wine with a shakey hand, as his wife tries to soften him down by patting his shoulder gently. Two other Corvos are looking tense next to him.
Daniele (vox off): Well, well. I did not see that one coming.
Donatella (vox off): Cousin did it this time. Uncle Alex is not gonna like that.

Two Grillo sisters, the twins Donatella and Daniele are whispering at each other. Behind them, Daria is listening to her cousin's speech while Pepper reads a book.
Daniele: He's gonna get his ass killed dead!!
Donatella: I don't know sis. I think it's refreshing to have a cousin running for Quaestor.

Daria: What's a Quaestor?
Pepper: ... You know what a Quaestor is, Daria.

Daniele: Maybe he just likes being able to take showers, Daria. Can't blame him for that. Some people enjoy having all their fingers too. And it's not like you're gonna be near the action much longer either.

Daria gets startled at the news, and the two sisters laugh at each other with barely concealed amusement.
Daria: Wh-what do you mean?
Daniele&Donatella: Oopsie, she didn't know!!

Daria's mother, Giulia, is standing next to her short husband. He's taking some food from a waiter, while she is waving a hand in a dismissive and dramatic fashion.
Giulia: You've had your fun. Now that you're done with your "special training", we're taking you back to Madrid.

Giulia: Why do you wish this suffering upon me? You wanted a brother, I gave you a brother. You wanted to be a woman, I made you a woman. You wanted dancing, sword-fighting, horse-riding and Xénon knows what else for lessons and I gave you those too. Is it too much to ask for you to return my favours? Or do you take pleasure in humiliating us in public like this?
